Exposure to Phthalates Most Likely Dangerous
Although extensive studies haven’t been conducted, new research is indicating that exposure to Phthalates, chemicals used to lengthen the life of fragrances and soften plastic in toys and medical tubes, can be detrimental to a baby boy’s reproductive system and cause fertility issues.
The research studies show phthalates in 25% of our nation’s mothers and have a greater risk of having a baby son with smaller genitals and incomplete testicular development leading to impaired reproductive development.
Phthalates are found in cosmetics, pvc, hairsprays, nail polish, perfumes, paints, personal care products and in many plastics including those used for re-usable bottles, toys and medical tubes.
The best suggestion to avoid phthalates is to use natural, non-toxic personal care products, phthalate free baby products and avoid most plastic toys as much as possible.
