Although extensive studies haven’t been conducted, new research is indicating that exposure to Phthalates, chemicals used to lengthen the life of fragrances and soften plastic in toys and medical tubes, can be detrimental to a baby boy’s reproductive system and cause fertility issues. On the heels of pulling certain children’s cold medications off the shelves, pediatricians testify about the efficacy of children’s cold medicines and why they shouldn’t be given to children even as old a 5 years also. As the pediatricians note, the common cold gets better on its own and the less you do the faster you get well.

6 year old twins from Egypt, formerly conjoined at the head, have made great progress over the last 4 years since their successful separation surgery. They are thriving with therapy and are continuing to catch up to children their own age. What an inspirational story!

Home Births Popular In Holland [Video]

Approximately 30% of children are born at home in Holland, the highest percentage in developed countries. Midwifes are a big part of the home birthing process and help expecting mothers in what they believe is a more natural surrounding. They don’t feel like giving birth is like being sick and needing to visit a hospital.

Controversy About Exercise During Pregnancy

A new research study reveals that women who exercise ‘intensely’ during the first trimester have an increased risk of miscarrying. This is contradictory to current government recommendations that pregnant women can exercise at the same levels as prior to pregnancy.

Woman Sues To Be Able To Pump Breastmilk

An aspiring doctor sues the medical examining board to be able to have ample time to pump breast milk and avoid the health consequences of skipping the milking during her 9 hour test. Only a 45 minute break is allowed during the entire testing, not sufficient to eat, go to the bathroom and pump breast milk. Good point made in the video, what are we teaching if we are training aspiring doctors to put their careers over their own health?
